Between July 21 to July 24, 2016 Piaţa Sfatului in Braşov hosted the fifth edition of Libris, the Book and Music Festival. As part of the festival, on Thursday, July 21, the literary awards for 2014 and 2015 were presented by the Writers’ Association in Romania, the Braşov branch. The winners were, as follows: for 2014 – the Romanian-born German writer Hans Begel - the Opera Omnia Award, Angela Nache-Mamier and Martin Culcea (ex aequo) - the Book of the Year Award, Valentin Irimia - the Debut Award; for 2015 – academic Alexandru Surdu (vicepresident of the Romanian Academy) - the Opera Omnia Award, Doru Munteranu and Ion Topolog (ex aequo) - the Book of the Year Award, and Bogdan Trifan - the Debut Award.
Bogdan Trifan is a fresh graduate student of the „Henri Coandă” Air Force Academy, speciality Air Traffic Control Management, and author of a book of poems entitled “În a cincea zi am privit către Est”, Cluj-Napoca: Şcoala Ardeleană Publishing House. The book was published following an award for Bogdan Trifan’s manuscript granted as part of the literary competition Vox Napocensis held in 2015 by the Culture House of Students in Cluj-Napoca, at the initiative of the Romanian writer Victor-Constantin Măruţoiu.
As part of the Libris Book and Music Festival, the Libris Literary Evenings were organized to which writers from Galaţi, Brăila, Bucureşti, Sibiu, Miercurea Ciuc, Târgu Secuiesc, Sinaia and Braşov were invited. The Literary Evenings programme included four poetry recitations in more or less conventional locations, such as: “Casa Mureşenilor”, the Library of the “Henri Coanda” Air Force Academy, the Council Square, and the training camp in Tărlungeni. At the invitation launched by Adrian Lesenciuc, president of the Writers’ Association in Romania, the Braşov branch, and member of the military teaching staff at the Air Force Academy, Bogdan Trifan and Livia Mihai also took part in the event. Livia Mihai, 1st year cadet at the „Henri Coandă” Air Force Academy had recently been awarded the Conta Magazine and the Eikon Publishing House Award within the National Literary Festival „Porni luceafărul...” in Botoşani (June 11). Livia Mihai made her debut with a poem published in the Hyperion Magazine.
